Limited Time Home Efficiency Rebate Offer
January 10, 2020
If you’ve been considering upgrading your attic insulation this winter or spring, now is the time to act! For a limited time, Enbridge Gas Inc. (formerly Union Gas) is offering promo packages on attic insulation through the Home Efficiency Rebate.
Yes, despite popular belief, there are rebates available in 2020. The Home Efficiency Rebate offers rebates for energy efficient upgrades to your home for items like insulation, furnaces/boilers, water heaters, windows and doors, and air sealing. It’s a great opportunity to make your home more energy efficient, comfortable, and affordable, all while saving money on the renovations.
What is the Home Efficiency Rebate?
The Home Efficiency Rebate is an incentive program run by Enbridge Gas (previously Union Gas before the companies amalgamated in 2019) that offers up to $5,000 for energy efficient upgrades to your home.
The first and last step in order to qualify for the program is an energy audit. You must have an energy audit completed before any renovations have begun, as well as a final energy audit after the renovations have been completed. Be sure to choose a Licensed Service Organization (such as our friends at Barrier Sciences Group) to perform the energy audits. If you’ve already started renovating but want to know if you qualify, contact us today by either filling out a contact form on our website, or calling our Customer Experience Team at 1-800-265-1914.
Limited Time Promo Bundles
The limited time promotional packages are offered to those who have their energy audit on or after January 1, 2020, and who have the final energy audit completed on or before March 31, 2020.

What is an Energy Audit?
An energy audit is the first and final qualification step in the Home Efficiency Rebate. It’s also the most effective tool you can utilize when determining your home’s current level of energy efficiency. The home energy audit will provide you with not only your home’s current level of energy efficiency, but will also provide you with a practical path forward when considering which renovations will be most beneficial to your home.
Your Registered Energy Advisor will conduct a blower door test on your home during the energy audit. This diagnostic tool provides crucial information regarding your home’s level of energy efficiency. During the test, a fan is placed in the main door frame of your home. When turned on, the fan pulls air from the inside of the home to the outside, which forces the air back in through the cracks or leaks.
Is the Energy Audit Free?
The best part about the Home Efficiency Rebate is that your home gets two energy audits, up to $5,000 in rebates, and you get to live in a much more comfortable home. With the Home Efficiency Rebate and the promotional bundles, most of your energy audit costs are rebated back to you along with the rest of your rebates.
At Great Northern Insulation, we offer free in-home assessments for the insulation work. However, you still must have an energy audit completed on your home in order to qualify for the Home Efficiency Rebate. If you’d like to schedule an energy audit, or a free in-home insulation assessment, contact us at 1-800-265-1914.
Is Attic Insulation the only Insulation Rebate Available?
Absolutely not! The Home Efficiency Rebate offers rebates for many different energy efficient upgrades. Attic insulation is included in the limited time bundle opportunities, but it’s certainly not the only insulation measure that’s offered a rebate.
There are rebates available for attic insulation, basement or crawl space insulation, and exterior wall insulation. Additionally, there are rebates available for other energy efficient upgrades like furnaces, water heaters, windows and doors, and air sealing.
If you’ve been considering upgrading your insulation now is a great time to take advantage of the available rebate options! GNI offers free in-home assessments from one of our insulation consultants and can also set up an energy audit for you to help get you started.
