Right now, there’s likely an Ontario energy rebate that will suit you quite well.
Which Ontario energy rebate is best for your home?
GreenON Rebates
GreenON Rebates are designed to help homeowners offset the cost of home energy upgrades by improving home energy efficiency, comfort, and reduce individual and Ontario’s carbon footprint. Insulation upgrades are eligible for GreenON Rebates of up to $7,200 for the purchase and installation of new insulation). This is an Ontario energy rebate that is well worthwhile – it’s an opportunity to save big on the upfront costs of insulation upgrades.
Union Gas HRRP
The Ontario energy rebate from Union Gas is referred to as the Home Reno Rebate Program. At Union Gas, property owners can qualify for up to $5,000 when doing “energy smart upgrades”.
For those who qualify, the HRRP offers a cash-back incentive to offset energy efficiency upgrades. Homeowners must work with a Registered Energy Advisor to expedite a pre-renovation energy audit.
Enbridge Gas
Enbridge Gas offers homeowners up to $5,000 in incentives through their HEC Program (Home Energy Conservation Program). For a limited time, Enbridge is offering up to $5000 in cash rebates. Make upgrading your home’s energy efficiency a priority and take advantage of this limited time offer before it expires! The HEC program is focused on undertaking energy retrofits that will improve a home’s energy efficiency and lower energy bills. By making energy retrofits affordable through cash rebates, homeowners are incentivized to prioritize energy upgrades amongst other renovation projects.
How rebates can benefit homeowners?
Cash rebates and incentives benefit homeowners in a number of ways. To begin with, there’s a motivation to make improvements that might otherwise be sidelined. Bottom line, the rebates dramatically offset the cost of important energy improvements, upgrades, and/or retrofits. For homeowners with other pressing priorities, home energy rebates are a welcome cost savings.
Ontario energy rebates are substantial
Under the GreenON rebate program, eligible applicants can benefit from various upgrades.
- for upgrades/retrofits to attic insulation - $1,500 maximum
- for upgrades/retrofits to basement insulation - $1,900 maximum
- for upgrades/retrofits to exterior wall insulation - $3,800 maximum
The Union Gas Home Reno Rebate Program offers up to $5,000 on eligible upgrades/retrofits
- property owners must do two renovations (from an approved list)
- a professional contractor must undertake all renovations/retrofits
- a Registered Energy Advisor must perform a post-renovation audit
Enbridge Gas offers up to $5,000 on improvements and/or upgrades (and pays for audit costs)
- property owners are required to undertake at least 2 upgrades:
- install new attic insulation
- install basement wall insulation
- install insulation in exposed floors
- perform air sealing (with insulation)
Better energy efficiency means savings on energy bills
Large home or small, a well insulated home can easily save 15% (or even more) on heating and cooling. Year after year, the dollar savings can be substantial, mainly because proper insulation reduces energy waste. Whatever the Ontario energy rebate, each program is designed to help consumers reduce their energy consumption and lower energy costs from season to season.
For the experts at Great Northern Insulation, every energy efficiency improvement is a plus - especially when before-and-after scenarios are measured. And there’s never been a better time to take advantage of incentives (while trimming the budget). The fact is, upgrades and retrofits that enhance home energy efficiency provide more long term benefits than most other renovations that are for aesthetics only.
