GreenON Program for Small and Medium Businesses
May 14, 2018
The GreenON program for small and medium businesses is designed to reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas pollution throughout the business sector. When expediting a no-charge energy assessment, a company could be eligible for funding when undertaking low-carbon projects.
Funding for the GreenON program for small and medium businesses is made available for various projects that will potentially reduce greenhouse gas pollution in buildings and in businesses in Ontario. Projects will help meet 2020/2030 greenhouse gas emissions targets in Ontario.
Eligibility for the GreenON program for small and medium businesses
The GreenON program for small and medium businesses is meant to increase awareness and understanding of management strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Ontario businesses with less than 500 employees (working in Ontario) are eligible for funding. This includes businesses in manufacturing; restaurants; multi-family buildings; and the retail sector.
Companies can have one or more work locations throughout the province. Eligible companies are provided a range of options to get the process started. Companies will be offered the following:
- a no-charge thermal/electrical energy assessment
- a report that categorizes the GHG reduction projects
- an estimation of return-on-investment (and savings)
- various incentives for GHG reduction projects/plans
Understanding the essentials of the GreenON program for businesses
Climate change is affecting every aspect of life around the world. As such, there’s a collective responsibility for both individuals and businesses to make changes. Long term, the GreenON Small and Medium program helps to move businesses towards a prosperous low-carbon economy. And with this comes many economic opportunities as governments worldwide seek to mitigate climate change.
As businesses develop low-carbon solutions and clean technologies, new jobs can potentially be created and existing jobs will evolve or be maintained. Investing in initiatives that reduce GHG emissions will ensure a reduced carbon footprint for all. This will materialize through energy retrofits, electric vehicles, and various housing retrofits. In short, it’s about transforming the way we live, move and work.
Potential energy upgrades available from Great Northern Insulation
Once a business has undergone a comprehensive energy assessment, professional contractors like Great Northern Insulation can be contracted to perform the improvements and retrofits that are recommended. From roof-work, to insulation, to air sealing, GNI delivers long term results.
Rooftop Ductwork Insulation
Proper insulation of rooftop ductwork improves both mechanical performance and energy efficiency. The bottom line: increased comfort, reduced energy consumption, and dollar savings.
Metal Roof Retrofits
In addition to ductwork, metal roof retrofits add insulative and air sealing qualities, and new look to your roof. Plus, it extends its life with elemental resistance to UV, rain and wind.
Air Sealing/Building Insulation
Insulation and air sealing are considered to be the most critical aspects of a building’s performance in terms of energy savings and comfort. Beyond the added comfort, a well-sealed building is much less expensive to maintain in both summer and winter.
Spray Foam Building Insulation
Spray foam provides very high R-Value wherever installed. Retrofitting with spray foam will provide a continuous air barrier that seals up air leakage that adds the benefits of insulation and air sealing, while also providing structural strength.
Roof-Wall Junction Air Sealing
Air sealing a building “envelope” (top to bottom) provides measurable improvements - more consistent indoor temperature - better overall air quality - and much improved energy efficiency.
Insulated Panelling and Cladding
Panelling and cladding provide the answers to both insulation and aesthetics, while also extending the life of your building. This can be your chance to reinvent the look of your business.
To take advantage of the GreenON program for small and medium businesses, fill out the registration form and have your business assessed by a technical expert.
