Project HOPE Builds Net Zero Ready Home in Just Three Days
June 23, 2017
Just two weeks ago, Great Northern Insulation partnered with Doug Tarry Homes to build a net-zero ready home in just three days for Project HOPE. From June 9 - 11, over 600 volunteers from the St. Thomas region came together to assist in building this Net Zero Ready home. Proceeds from the Project HOPE build will support the family of Johnny Nooren, a local community ambassador who passed away of cancer last summer. We'll have lots of content coming in the weeks and months to come, but for now enjoy this great video by the Canadian Home Builder's Association, where Doug Tarry of Doug Tarry Homes is interviewed by Sonja Winkelmann, CHBA Director of Net Zero Energy Housing! So, what is a Net Zero Ready home? Net Zero Ready is a name given to homes that are so energy efficient, they are able to produce as much energy as it can produce from on-site renewable sources. That means that the home built by Doug Tarry in just three days is so air tight and so well insulated that it is optimized to the point where, if solar panels were added, it would be able to produce as much energy as it uses. And it was built in only three days!
